Background

Before the project

A Korean restaurant on a side street in Bukchon Hanok Village had little Google visibility despite its location in a major tourist district. It relied on Naver Place while many international visitors used Google Maps. Its existing profile contained only a name, address and one basic photo, with no English information.

What we did

5 months of optimization

  • 1Rebuilt the GBP profile with English and Japanese descriptions and the specific category “Korean restaurant”
  • 2Uploaded more than 30 high-quality food and interior photos, followed by new photos every two weeks
  • 3Created a multilingual review response routine, replying to English and Japanese reviews within 24 hours
  • 4Published Google posts twice a week, including seasonal menus and opening-hour updates
  • 5Added English and Japanese menus to GBP and updated pricing information

What the data tells us

Understanding the story behind the numbers

566 impressions for the Japanese keyword “レストラン”

The term means “restaurant” in Japanese. The business began appearing for this search among visitors exploring Bukchon on Google Maps after Japanese information was added to its profile.

90% of views came from Google Maps on mobile

Visitors to the area commonly explore on foot and use phones to find nearby restaurants. Because mobile discovery is closely connected to visits, a complete mobile profile was a key priority.

574 searches for “bukchon korean restaurant”

This English location-and-category search reflects how international visitors research restaurants before going out. It shows the business reaching customers through a relevant search phrase.

600–750 monthly interactions sustained over five months

The data shows sustained discovery rather than a short-lived spike. Consistent review replies, current information and strong photos helped maintain the profile over time.

Our anonymization policy

We remove business names, branches, account screens and identifying URLs. Industry and location are described only as specifically as needed. Until before-and-after results are available, the work is labeled an audit project rather than a success story.
