Gangnam Skin Clinic Marketing: From Google Maps Search to Confirmed Appointments

BlinkAd Team

English edition:

Korean original: · Read in Korean

Appearing on Google Maps does not immediately bring bookings to a Gangnam skin clinic. After discovering the clinic, an international patient needs to read about its care in their language, choose a contact channel and receive a staff reply before confirming an appointment.

BlinkAd examines Maps visibility, website visits, consultations and bookings separately. Knowing where patients stop helps identify what needs attention.

On September 17, 2026, BlinkAd checked Google Maps for Gangnam dermatology around Gangnam Station while signed out. All of the first five results had a website button. Only one had an online booking button immediately visible on Maps. For the others, visitors needed to open the website, select a language and find the consultation or booking route.

When evaluating international-patient marketing for a Gangnam skin clinic, ranking alone is not enough. Look separately at Maps visibility, website visits, consultation starts, staff replies and confirmed appointments.

In Gangnam, the question extends beyond demand to competition for bookings

Gangnam's official medical tourism statistics report 650,958 international patients in 2025, with dermatology accounting for the largest specialty share at 48.2%. This supports the existence of international-patient demand in Gangnam. It does not represent bookings for any individual clinic.

As of May 1, 2026, Gangnam listed 148 partner medical institutions, including 17 in dermatology. These are figures for the district's published partnership program, not the total number of skin clinics in Gangnam. More clinics compete in Maps results regardless of whether they are partners.

Customers also use more than one search phrase. In the September 8, 2026 Google autocomplete check, the Korean query 강남 피부과 (“Gangnam dermatology”) produced comparison-related expressions such as recommendations, specialists and rankings. The combination 강남 피부과 외국인 (“Gangnam skin clinic foreigners”) was also observed. Autocomplete does not establish search volume or nationality. We treated it only as a supporting indication of comparisons between clinics.

Previously, BlinkAd examined Gangnam skin-clinic Maps rankings across 75 points in Korean, English and Japanese (Korean). This article looks at what follows: the website, consultation and booking process.

How far did the first five Maps profiles take visitors?

On September 17, 2026, we searched for Gangnam dermatology around Gangnam Station, signed out and with the interface set to English. We checked the first five profiles and their linked official websites. Clinics are labeled A–E to keep the comparison focused on the process rather than ranking one institution above another.

All five had a website, at least one foreign-language route, and guidance toward a consultation or booking. Only one had an online booking button directly on Maps. Clinics appearing in the same search results involved different numbers of steps before booking.

This is a snapshot from one time, location and language setting. Maps order changes with search location, time and user settings, and a button does not reveal an actual booking conversion rate. Use the sample to ask whether your own clinic's process includes avoidable steps.

A language page should answer seven questions before consultation

International patients arriving from Maps want more than an introduction to the clinic. They need to know whether it offers relevant care, where to ask questions and when they can book. We group the information into seven questions:

  1. What care does the clinic provide?
Describe the actual consultation and treatment areas precisely rather than introducing dermatology in general.

  2. Who will provide care?
Give clinicians' names, areas of practice and verifiable qualifications and experience without exaggeration.

  3. Which concerns can patients discuss?
Help people find information by concern or purpose without guaranteeing results before diagnosis.

  4. How can patients check costs?
State what published prices include and the conditions that apply. Explain when an individual assessment is needed.

  5. How much time may care and recovery require?
Have the medical team review visit duration, number of visits, precautions and possible side effects.

  6. When and where should patients visit?
Make opening hours, closing days and directions from Gangnam Station or nearby transport easy to follow.

  7. How can patients contact the clinic, and when will they hear back?
List the channels staff actually use—such as WhatsApp, LINE or Kakao—along with supported languages and response hours. Explain the difference between receiving an inquiry and confirming an appointment.

Before adding translated pages, check that their information agrees with the Korean version and that staff can actually reply in the languages offered. A page promising 24-hour consultation followed by silence until the next day, or language pages with outdated hours, can lose patients between inquiry and booking.

Before attracting international patients, check the clinic's registration as an institution authorized to do so. Also assess whether the website and advertising copy require prior medical-advertising review, depending on the medium and content. Writing in another language does not remove registration or medical-advertising requirements. Before publishing, obtain confirmation from the clinic's responsible staff and relevant specialists where needed.

A website click is not a completed booking

Google Business Profile performance can show search terms, profile views, calls, direction requests and website clicks. More website clicks do not establish more bookings. Separating the stages makes it easier to see where people stop.

GA4 recommends generate_lead, qualify_lead, working_lead and close_convert_lead for general lead processes. They must not be automatically interpreted as medical care or clinic booking statuses. Define what counts as an inquiry submission, first response and confirmed appointment before connecting events to internal records.

UTM values identifying source, medium and campaign on profile, ad and English, Japanese or Chinese page links help compare where inquiries begin. Do not send GA4 personally identifiable information such as names, phone numbers or email addresses, or symptoms and treatment interests linked to a person. Check URLs, page titles, event values and custom dimensions for this information too.

BlinkAd also discusses staff replies after a contact-button click in the consultation process from Google Maps inquiry to an actual appointment (Korean). A Gangnam skin clinic should also connect language pages and profile sources, so it can see which language an inquiry began in and how long confirmation took.

Use the first 30 days to improve the process between Maps and booking

Rather than changing everything at once, review the first month in the order patients move through the process.

In week one, align the profile and website information. Check that the English clinic name, care areas, address, phone number and hours agree. Remove unsupported languages or contact channels, and test whether the linked website loads on mobile. Add UTM parameters to distinguish Maps traffic.

In week two, start with the highest-priority language pages. Align care descriptions, clinicians, location and hours. Put consultation buttons and booking instructions in a consistent position. State supported languages and response hours, and have the medical team check wording about efficacy, side effects and recovery.

In week three, separate the measurement stages. Distinguish website visits, consultation-button clicks and form submissions. Record confirmed appointments and attendance separately in the clinic's internal system. Test that identifying and health-related information is kept out of analytics, and send test inquiries through the English, Japanese and Chinese pages to check that they work.

In week four, examine replies and confirmation. Check the time to first reply by language and agree on the scope of staff answers to common questions. Group inquiries that did not become bookings into practical categories such as delayed reply, unavailable requested time or care outside the clinic's scope. Use the channels and languages that led to actual bookings to choose next month's priorities.

BlinkAd reviews how patients discover a Gangnam skin clinic on Maps, whether language pages answer their questions, whether staff can respond and whether appointment confirmation can be measured. Contact us to review your clinic's Maps, website and consultation process together.

Frequently asked questions

Will good Business Profile management increase international bookings on its own?

Profile management is a starting point for discovery. Without a connected language website, care information, contact channels, staff replies and confirmation process, visitors may stop at a website click or inquiry. Review profile performance and booking data separately.

Do we need English, Japanese and Chinese pages all at once?

Not necessarily. Prioritize based on current inquiry countries and languages, staff capacity and the care offered. Adding languages the clinic cannot support may create delayed replies and inconsistent information.

Can a consultation-button click count as a booking conversion?

No. A click shows an attempt to make contact. It is separate from a submitted inquiry, staff reply, confirmed appointment or actual visit. Record each stage separately to see what needs improvement.
